Easter

Good Friday is a Festival day in Argentina and the shops are usually all closed. The shop windows are full of Easter eggs, and remember that Patagonia is famous for its chocolate!

Easter Sunday

On Easter Sunday, most families come together to celebrate with a delicious meal. They do not eat asado or any red meat during the Passover (this is a Catholic tradition), but eat fish, or empanadas (small pasties) filled with fish, vegetables or ham and cheese.

There is strong Catholic influence in Argentina on account of the Latin Americans, and even if the Argentinians aren't Catholics themselves, they usually follow the same tradition. After the meal, it's time to eat the chocolate eggs! The rosca de Pascua, a ring-shaped loaf of bread with sweets, sugared fruit and chocolate are very traditional too.
