Wales and the Wladfa are very similar, because both places hold an event called an eisteddfod!
In Wales, two large and several small eisteddfods are held throughout the year. Children and adults of all ages compete in different competitions. Examples of these competitions are singing, reciting, playing instruments, dancing, writing prose and poetry and choral singing.
The two main eisteddfods in Wales are Eisteddfod Genedlaethol yr Urdd (National Urdd Eisteddfod) and Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru (National Eisteddfod of Wales). They last for a week and the location changes every year.
The eisteddfod maes is full of activities and is filled with stalls and small shops. Here's a video of eisteddfod goers in the 2014 Eisteddfod:
The Urdd Eisteddfod is the largest youth festival in Europe and is held every year in May. The Urdd is an organization that offers a range of activities to young people in Wales. Youngsters enjoy staying in Llangrannog and Glan-llyn, two of the Urdd's main campsites.
